Karl is a serial inventor and entrepreneur who has built and sold a number of highly innovative businesses including Pelipod (sold to BT), MetaPack (sold to Stamps.com) and Abacus (sold to MindCTI) and has invented and brought to market a number of products and information systems.

Mohammed is MD of Wessex Water Enterprises, and Operations Director of Wessex Water Services. He is an experienced and senior voice from the water industry who brings knowledge and industry insight to the Board.
Dr Jo Slota-Newson
Advisor and Shareholder Representative
Jo is the representative of Mercia Asset Management, bringing skills and experience in helping Boards of start-ups.
Dr Miles Davies
Miles has a PhD in wastewater treatment. He previously worked in the water industry on new technology and now runs a consultancy business including advising on IP protection and knowledge transfer.

CEO and Director
Russell is a chartered engineer with 30+ years in business, most recently leading businesses in technology-driven markets including Water, Industrial Services, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Chemicals. He has diverse experience gained in large blue-chip corporates, SMEs, and family owned businesses. He had great success maximising profitability and driving business growth using creative and innovative commercial solutions, including Veolia Water Industrial Outsourcing.
CTO and Director
Daniel is one of the world’s top algal scientists and has conceived and led on the development of IPHYCs technology. Daniel has worked on algae from an applied viewpoint as both a problem and a tool for the water industry with a focus on the development of processes for the scale up and commercial use of algae. Daniel has published in academic journals, won a range of awards and has sat on the on the management board of the UK steering group for algal research ‘Phyconet’.
Part Time Finance Director
Stephen is a Chartered Accountant and Governance professional with 25+ years in business. Having qualified with PriceWaterhouse he has worked across a variety of South Wales’ blue-chip manufacturing businesses. Most recently leading the Clinical Solutions business of Berendsen plc (£60m turnover, 600 employees, 4 UK locations) as Managing Director. He has been involved in a number of SME start-ups and lead the turnaround of Rocialle Ltd. Stephen currently serves as a business coach with the Welsh government’s Accelerated Growth Programme.
Staff and Management Team
The Executive Management team is supported by a team of highly skilled and experienced workforce which blends scientific knowledge and water industry experience. Andrew Best leads the sales and commercial activities. Andrew has >25 years sales experience in the water industry, including solutions to Phosphorus discharge. Norman Heighway is I-PHYC’s Engineering Manager and brings with him >25 years technical engineering within the water industry. Dr Thea Coward is one of the world’s leading applied algal scientists. Prior to joining I-PHYC she was a postdoctoral fellow of the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute. She leads the science team which also includes Jeremy Winter (Masters in Applied Biotechnology, University of Westminster), Katie Wojcik (Masters of Biological Sciences, University of Bristol), Francesca Ho (Currently studying for a Masters, BSc University of the West of England). Kate Corcoran is a qualified chartered accountant and looks after the office, finance and admin needs of the company.
